Staff IC Packaging Mechanical Engineer, Dojo

Job Description

Tesla is seeking a Staff IC Packaging Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for mechanical simulation and materials characterization of advanced IC packaging. The role involves driving packaging design for manufacturing and reliability, as well as product-level qualification. You will leverage your expertise in numerical mechanical simulation, first-principles analysis, and packaging materials characterization to optimize designs and ensure reliability.

Requirements

• Master's Degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in IC packaging mechanical/material engineering or related fields
• Dtrong hands-on experience with major FEM tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS)
• Deep understanding of packaging materials, mechanical characterization, and qualification methodology
• Knowledge of advanced packaging technology
• Excellent engineering problem-solving skills
• Programming experience using MATLAB, Python, and fundamental machine learning capability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct numerical mechanical simulation of advanced IC packages
• Perform first-principles analysis for component warpage and solder joint reliability
• Model and simulate manufacturing processes
• Conduct packaging thermal and mold flow analysis
• Characterize packaging materials to support new architecture
• Drive design for manufacturing and reliability.
