Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Mechanical design engineer with precision machine design experience to join the team, focusing on CAD mechanical design using CREO and Solidworks, feasibility studies, managing large assemblies, and more.

Requirements

• In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal forming, and 3D printing
• Basic/Intermediate knowledge of precision machine design
• Basic knowledge of vacuum systems a plus
• Solid understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, fluid flow, and heat transfer
• Experience in 3D solid modeling (Creo or Solidworks preferred)
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
• Desire to contribute to team efforts and accomplish overall objectives

Responsibilities

• CAD mechanical design using CREO and Solidworks
• Perform feasibility studies
• Manage large assemblies and system layout
• Perform Finite Element Analysis as required
• Drive conceptual and detailed design using 3D solid modeling
• Drive Manufacturing process for releasing parts and assemblies
• Perform FEA analysis, error budgeting, and hand calculations
• Participate in and lead design reviews
• Communicate requirements, timelines, and deliverables clearly
• Build prototypes and validate designs
• Release designs to manufacturing
