Staff Controls Engineer

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Staff Control Engineer to design, develop, and deploy innovative control algorithms for lightweight electric propulsion systems, contributing to the mission of creating sustainable transportation systems.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Controls or Electrical Engineering
• Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, electric powertrains, and control theory
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
• Proficiency in engineering tools like Vector CANape, ECU diagnostic tools, Git, etc.
• Experience in developing algorithms from scratch and working with dynamical systems and control theory
• Knowledge of communication protocols and motor controls

Responsibilities

• Model, design, develop, validate, and deploy innovative control system algorithms
• Test, validate, and troubleshoot control algorithms in simulation and on hardware targets
• Contribute to requirements engineering, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and software-in-the-loop (SIL) workstreams
• Collaborate with system, electrical, and software engineers
