Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Battery Test Engineer, Safety and Abuse to help develop safe battery systems through testing and validation efforts.

BS or MS in material science/engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineer, electrical engineering, or closely related subject
4+ years working in a testing/data collection environment
Familiarity with DFSS or DRM tools
Prior experience working on heat transfer problems, combustion, gas flow analysis, energetic materials, or battery thermal abuse is a plus
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Up to 40% domestic and/or international travel

Design, execute, and analyze Safety and Abuse tests on batteries and high voltage sub-systems
Support in-depth analyses within various disciplines
Use statistical tools for data analysis and develop predictive models
Develop new test methodologies, fixtures, and analysis methods
Coordinate test efforts with cross-functional teams and external labs
Provide technical resource for various discussions
Identify and pursue continuous learning opportunities
