Staff Build and Release Engineer

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Release Engineer to work on early-stage development projects for future programs in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in release engineering
• 5+ years of experience with programming in Python or similar
• Experience working with build and release automation, as well as HiL testing infrastructure on hardware products running C or C++ and lightweight operating systems
• Expertise in maintaining the configuration of industry-standard source control and build automation systems such as Gitlab or Github, build servers such as Jenkins, Gitlab Runners, and tracking systems such as Jira
• Experience with Bazel, Docker, PyTest, OpenHTF a plus
• Experience with consumer-facing products, safety-critical systems, and resource-constrained software a plus

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain systems by configuring third-party tools or writing custom scripts to automate the software development, release, and validation process for the Future Programs firmware team
• Build, scale, automate, and secure software development system including CI and verification automation infrastructure
• Proactively devise ways to increase development velocity through automation of common development tasks
• Design for high reliability, redundancy, fault tolerance, and strong security
• Provide guidance on designing release and testing processes to fit technical and project requirements and then integrate process changes into team-wide standards and automation
• Identify useful new technologies that can improve efficiency and reliability and incorporate them into build release workflows, development tools, and processes
