Sr. Materials Engineer, Interiors

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Material Sciences or Engineering professional to lead soft trim prototyping and development for their Interior Engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelors of Science in Material Sciences, Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of materials development or M.S. in Materials Sciences, Engineering or a related field with 2-3+ years of materials development
• Multi-disciplined experiences in automotive plastics, metals, polymeric films, fabrics / textiles, composites, and natural fibers
• Proven experience with handling multiple complex projects simultaneously
• First-class communication skills
• Organized and detail-oriented in documentation and report writing
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities

• Lead soft trim prototyping and development with product development teams
• Complete engineering approval of program materials
• Author Rivian Materials Standards and Testing Specifications
• Lead advanced materials development focusing on sustainability, durability, and cleanability
• Drive root cause analysis for production issues related to materials
• Provide materials modeling inputs for digital validation
• Collaborate with Supplier Quality Engineering and Purchasing teams
• Demonstrate 'Rivian Compass' values in all activities
