Controls Test Engineer

Job Description

Controls Software Test Engineer at Rivian responsible for ensuring quality and reliability of powertrain domain controllers and embedded control systems for electric vehicles.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Controls, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience testing embedded systems or automotive ECUs
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, including model-based design and developing automation scripts
• Experience with automotive communication protocols and tools like Vector CANalyzer, CANape
• Expertise in model-based software verification using MATLAB/Simulink
• Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, electric powertrains, and control theory
• Familiarity with resource-constrained microcontrollers and version control systems

Responsibilities

• Design and execute comprehensive Controls software test cases for Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines
• Develop and maintain automated test suites, including unit, functional, and system tests
• Collaborate with system engineers and software developers to create and implement test cases
• Automate test processes, enhance existing test scripts, and develop custom tools for testing
• Troubleshoot systems and ECUs using lab and measurement tools
• Perform ECU-level testing on MIL and HiL setups, validate control algorithms
• Contribute to requirements, SIL, and regression testing efforts
