Firmware & Sensors Engineer, Home and Audio Devices

Job Description

The Firmware Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining hardware and firmware for Apple home and audio products with a focus on sensing based experiences.

Requirements

• M.S. in EE, CE, CS, or equivalent industry experience
• 5+ years of firmware and device driver development in bare-metal or RTOS environments, ideally in consumer electronics
• 2-3+ years of sensing system hardware engineering experience such as optical, IMU, capacitive, environmental, light, motion, radar, acoustic, etc.
• Strong coding skills in C, C++, Python
• Ability to optimize software for resource-constrained embedded systems (e.g., power, throughput, memory/compute)
• Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping, hardware bring-up, software feature design and development
• Willingness to learn how to quantify and test new technologies
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across the organization and with all levels of management
• Passionate, innovative, and problem-solving mindset
• Availability for domestic and international travel for development and on-site manufacturing support

Responsibilities

• Architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining hardware and firmware for Apple home and audio products
• Individually responsible for firmware and sensing-related tasks
• Ensuring overall sensor integration in the product for high-quality execution of new product features
