Haptic Hardware Technology Development Engineer

Job Description

Seeking a Multi-Disciplinary Engineer with a strong background in mechanical and electromagnetic design to develop haptic technology and actuators for Apple products.

Requirements

• Strong fundamental in mechanics
• Experience with magnetic or motor design
• Applied knowledge of electrical circuits, instrumentation, control, and basic programming
• Experience using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to guide design process
• Experience with 3D CAD, 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis
• Team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills
• BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

Responsibilities

• Generate concepts and solutions to multi-disciplinary haptic related challenges
• Perform mechanical, magnetic, and electro-mechanical modeling to evaluate and optimize concepts and designs
• Prototype, evaluate, and debug innovative ideas
• Design and define mechanical components and assembly schemes
• Define detailed specifications and engineering requirements
• Participate in the development of new manufacturing and assembly processes with external vendors
• Validate and characterize designs through multiple iterations
• Conduct failure analysis and design of experiments (DOEs) to resolve root cause and implement corrective actions
• Generate new intellectual property
• Collaborate with design studio and system engineering groups to define and achieve experience goals
• Design for manufacturability with cross-functional teams
• Communicate multi-functionally and throughout management structure on a regular basis
• Manage and track multiple priorities within schedule requirements
• Lead design reviews and design documentation releases
