Wi-Fi Power and Performance Engineer - Platform Architecture

Job Description

Apple's Platform Architecture group is seeking a motivated engineer with a strong background in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth measurements and analysis to provide power and performance data on shipping Wi-Fi/WLAN and BT combo solutions.

Requirements

• BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
• Experience operating wireless test equipment such as Octoscope/Spirent or Keysight Wi-Fi UXM
• Experience gathering power time series traces for Wi-Fi power dashboards
• Experience with modern smartphone and laptop/portable wireless architecture for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, UWB, NFC
• Experience with black box testing on consumer samples
• Proficiency in a data processing language/library such as Python3, Pandas, Scipy, Numpy, Matplotlib, Matlab or similar, and basic scripting (Bash)
• Familiarity with Wi-Fi baseband marketplace, market players, discrete vs integrated markets, and trends
• Understanding of foundational RF concepts driving Wi-Fi and BT power in the real world on live networks and devices
• Common end user benchmarking applications and tools (iPerf3, IxChariot, Keysight TestApp, etc)

Responsibilities

• Operate industry standard and in-house wireless test equipment
• Gather Wi-Fi power timelines using in-house DAQ
• Work in a lab environment with other wireless power/performance engineers
