Display Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Apple Display Technologies group is seeking Mechanical Engineers to design and develop innovative display modules for future products.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience with mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, and thermodynamics
• Experience with mechanical design & validation
• 3D/2D software experience: 3D modeling (Pro/E, NX, CATIA, or Solidworks)
• Experience with diverse manufacturing techniques and materials
• Failure analysis experience
• Experience with simulation and analysis such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and thermal, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
• Familiarity with Six Sigma methodology, process capability, and capable of large data set analysis using JMP, MATLAB, or Minitab
• Electro-mechanical design and/or manufacturing for high-volume products with an emphasis on reliability
• Understanding of DFA/DFM, and statistical tolerance analysis
• Excellent prioritization, cross-functional collaboration, and written & verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Investigate state-of-the-art mechanical designs and technologies to improve Apple display performance
• Define module mechanical architecture based on various requirements
• Achieve system goals through mechanical design optimization and prototyping
• Implement validation plans for ME characteristics of display modules
• Act as a focal point among multiple cross-functional teams to deliver mechanically robust displays
• Travel internationally (~15%, primarily Asia)
