CPU Physical Design Methodology and Optimization Engineer

Job Description

Join Apple's CPU design team to contribute to solving key problems in physical design methodology and optimization space, focusing on improving Power, Performance and Area (PPA) of industry-leading CPU designs.

Requirements

• Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant industry experience
• Proficiency in digital circuits, timing/power concepts, and logic design
• Strong scripting skills in Python, TCL, or Perl
• Experience with high-performance & low-power physical design techniques
• Understanding of deep sub-micron technology challenges and ability to write algorithms for optimization
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Work with CPU, CAD, and design teams to engineer new flows/algorithms for PPA improvement
• Analyze partitions to identify optimization opportunities
• Develop new PD flows to enhance CPU performance and efficiency
• Collaborate across teams to improve optimization during physical design
• Contribute to new technical areas like applying machine learning techniques in silicon design
