Mechanical Engineer, Solar, Kuiper Mechanical

Job Description

Design and improve solar modules for Project Kuiper's satellite constellation to provide affordable broadband to underserved communities globally.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials Science, or equivalent
• 4 years minimum work experience as a mechanical engineer
• 2 years minimum work experience on Solar Modules, Solar Cells, or Solar Arrays
• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
• Proficiency with CAD (Computer Aided Design) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems

Responsibilities

• Design and improve upon the solar modules used on the Kuiper Satellites
• Identify and analyze requirements for trade studies and solar module interfaces
• Create detailed CAD models of solar module design options
• Analyze and respond to all load conditions for compliance
• Build development sample solar modules for process and design improvements
• Develop test plans with statistical analysis for reliability assessments
• Define qualification plans and acceptance testing methods for production
• Facilitate cost trades on multiple configurations
• Produce complete design packages including detailed drawings and analysis reports
