Software Development Engineer II, Recommendation Experiences

Job Description

The Amazon Books Recommendation Experiences team is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to work on developing innovative discovery solutions and personalized book recommendation experiences.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience contributing to the design and development of scalable backend services and front-end applications
• Strong programming experience with at least two modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala, Kotlin, C++ or Javascript
• Experience with front-end technologies such as React, Angular or Vue.js
• Experience with RESTful API design and implementation, understanding of database systems and data modeling
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including UX designers and product managers

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing scalable backend services and APIs for personalized book discovery experiences
• Collaborating with front-end engineers to create responsive and engaging user interfaces
• Contributing to the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and operations
• Optimizing backend performance and ensuring high availability of services
• Mentoring and guiding other software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
• Influencing the team's technical and business strategy by proposing and driving new project ideas
