Job Description

The Optical Network Development Engineer position at AWS Core Networking involves building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks to support AWS, customers, and other business units across global data centers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering or equivalent worked experience
• 1+ years of work experience on optical communication systems
• 1+ years of work experience on operating and maintaining optical (DWDM) networks
• 1+ years of experience on optical network planning and optimization
• 1+ years of professional development experience with Python or a similar scripting language for automation scripting

Responsibilities

• Perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, internal/external customer interactions, and produce appropriate technical documentation
• Collaborate with vendors/manufacturers to evaluate new hardware and software features and create implementation plans
• Automate optical test plans, qualify optical modules, and define/develop test plans for Optical Modules
• Work with network operations team to identify operation issues, improve quality, and RMA process
