Sr. Colo Electrical Engineer, Colocation Regional Engineering (CRE)

Job Description

The AWS Infrastructure Services team is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring continual access to innovation for customers.

Requirements

• Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related discipline, or 10 years commensurate industry or military experience in lieu of degree
• Cumulative 6+ years of focused experience in Data Center or Carrier-class Telecommunications design, engineering, and/or operations and maintenance (O&M) of data center critical environment infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments against AWS standards for collocation data centers and telecommunications facilities within the region
• Review vendor critical infrastructure designs, perform risk analysis and availability calculations, and determine fit-for-use for AWS cloud services
• Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures
• Lead design for existing data center upgrades and solutions to improve capacity, availability, and efficiency
• Interface with internal teams to promote standards and maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered
• Initiate and lead engineering site audits within Amazon’s owned or colo data centers
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover
