Sr. Colo Electrical Engineer, Colocation Regional Engineering (CRE)

Job Description

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking an engineer with a passion for data center design to join their team. The role involves collaborating with various teams to assess and select colocation facilities that meet business requirements, showcasing expertise in data center design, and playing a key role in improving data center infrastructure.

Requirements

• Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline, or 10 years industry or military experience in lieu of degree
• 6+ years experience in Data Center or Carrier-class Telecommunications design, engineering, and/or operations and maintenance
• Master's degree in engineering preferred
• PE or EIT certification preferred
• Prior project management experience desirable

Responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments against AWS standards for collocation data centers and telecommunications facilities
• Review vendor critical infrastructure designs and perform risk analysis
• Troubleshoot and create corrective action documentation for site/equipment failures
• Lead design for data center upgrades to improve capacity, availability, and efficiency
• Interface with internal teams to promote standards and reliability in services delivered
• Initiate and lead engineering site audits within Amazon's owned or colo data centers
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects
