Job Description

The Sr. Optical Network Development Engineer position at AWS Infrastructure Services involves building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks to support AWS, customers, and other business units across global data centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering or equivalent worked experience
  • 8+ years of work experience on optical communication systems or components
  • 8+ years of experience with optical transceivers and IEEE standards
  • 4+ years of experience working with high speed signals and signal and power integrity in electronic devices
  • 4+ years of experience developing test scripts for optics validation and characterization
  • 2+ years of experience working with optical and networking merchant silicon suppliers, manufacturing processes, and qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performing high-quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, internal/external customer interactions, and producing appropriate technical documentation
  • Collaborating with vendors/manufacturers to evaluate new hardware and software features and create implementation plans
  • Automating optical test plans, qualifying optical modules, and defining/developing test plans for Optical Modules
  • Working with the network operations team to identify operation issues, improve quality, and RMA process
