Job Description

Principal Firmware Engineer responsible for leading test strategies and development of firmware architectures for battery and charger development in Brookfield, WI.

Requirements

  • Master's or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field and 5 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field and 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in verification/validation testing, hardware in the loop (HIL) testing, embedded systems, or PCBA design
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, component data sheets, and understanding digital circuits
  • Experience with National Instrument hardware, Test Stand, or LabView
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, C#, or C/C++ for creating automated tests
  • Experience in leading through all aspects of the software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of Battery or Charger Management Systems, Cell Simulation and Modeling, Test Case creation and documentation
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of test strategies for new firmware architectures, applications, components, and libraries
  • Design, develop, execute, and troubleshoot test procedures related to firmware features, applications, and subsystems
  • Lead peer-review of test designs and automation
  • Develop test plans and drive consensus for firmware delivery
  • Lead agile project teams through new product development process
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts of test development
  • Champion experiments and analyze data using simulations
  • Lead technical meetings, develop and give formal technical presentations
  • Effectively communicate and motivate team members across the organization
  • Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for achieving key project metrics
