Data Engineer

Job Description

The Amazon Payments Team is seeking a Data Engineer to work in a fast-paced environment leveraging e-commerce data to provide superior value to customers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with SQL
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
• Experience with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
• Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
• Exposure to large databases, BI applications, data quality, and performance tuning

Responsibilities

• Work in a large and complex data warehouse environment
• Build data analytical solutions to address complex business questions
• Implement stable, scalable data flow solutions from production systems to end-user facing applications/reports
• Implement data analytics using cutting-edge technologies like EMR, Lambda, Kinesis, and Spectrum
• Extract and analyze structured and unstructured data from various sources
• Write scalable code and tune performance for large data sets
• Implement data flow solutions using Spark, Redshift, and File-based storage for reporting and adhoc analysis
• Work in a self-directed environment, own tasks, and drive them to completion
• Collaborate with business owners to develop key business questions and build data sets to answer them
• Ensure high data availability, low latency, and document data details and transformations
