Electronic Systems Technical Specialist - Hardware

Job Description

Cummins Inc. is seeking an Electronic Systems Technical Specialist - Hardware to join their team in Columbus, IN. The role involves problem resolution, process improvement, design expertise, collaboration, decision-making, mentorship, leadership, and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field required
• Post-graduate degree may be required for select roles
• Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience required
• Proficiency with Altium software and experience with Windchill preferred
• Experience in designing printed circuit boards for electrical distribution systems required
• Knowledge of typical BEV systems solutions and technologies
• Experience with schematic design using Creo Schematics and 3D modeling using Creo Parametric preferred

Responsibilities

• Investigating electronic hardware issues and recommending appropriate actions for problem resolution
• Enhancing electronic hardware development processes and tools for process improvement
• Utilizing design methods like worst-case analysis, circuit simulation, DFMEA/PFMEA, and Fault Tree Analysis for design expertise
• Obtaining input from electronic suppliers and delivering prototype hardware to application engineering teams for collaboration
• Making decisions on hardware requirements, design, and validation tests for optimal outcomes
• Reviewing the work of less-experienced developers and testers for mentorship
• Leading smaller projects or complex components with full accountability for successful project execution
• Coordinating work among technicians and student employees for knowledge transfer
