Job Description

Cummins Research and Technology is seeking a Technical Specialist to develop innovative digital software and controls features for medium and heavy duty vehicles.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Engineering with 3 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 5 years of industry experience
• Proven track record in embedded controls, real-time software development, or machine learning/AI applications
• Background in controls software or health monitoring and diagnostics feature development for ICE, hybrid, EV powertrain
• Skilled in communication, presentation, documentation, and teamwork
• Desired certifications in FUSA, CyberApps, MISRA, Model-Based Controls Development, DevOps, or Machine Learning

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype next-generation powertrain software connected digital features and controls algorithms
• Conduct rapid experimentation and proof-of-concept development
• Deploy embedded optimization or machine learning algorithms to enhance efficiency and reliability
• Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems across connected and intelligent functional discipline
• Collaborate with business units and cross-functional teams to transition prototypes into production-ready solutions
• Collaborate with external partners and suppliers for software algorithms features and technology integration
