Thermal Design Engineer, Project Kuiper (Satellites)

Job Description

Project Kuiper is seeking a Thermal Design Engineer with experience in spacecraft design and thermal analysis to join their team responsible for providing thermal design solutions for satellites and customer terminals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience with thermal analysis software, including writing custom scripts.
• 1+ year experience with test planning, test set-up, results correlation and system verification.
• 1+ year of experience in development or selection of thermal control hardware and materials.
• 1+ year experience with thermal simulation software and programming.
• Experience with interpreting and correlating data from on–orbit telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Support extensive architectural trades with preliminary thermal analysis on spacecraft and subsystems.
• Develop automated scripts for rapid analysis updates and mapping.
• Design, analyze, and select heat pipes for bus and payload components.
• Define and execute test setups for thermal cycling and TVAC tests.
• Document trades, design evolution, and preparation of materials for design review gates.
