Systems Safety Engineer, Hardware Safety & Compliance

Job Description

Amazon Lab126 is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to assess and ensure customer safety for their innovative Consumer Electronics products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 3-5 years of industry experience in system-level design, sustaining, or validation including circuit design, integration, failure analysis, and debug
• 1-2 years of experience with off-shore contract manufacturers
• Deep knowledge of system integration, communication protocols, regulatory certifications, manufacturing processes, and verification techniques

Responsibilities

• Drive failure & forensics analysis involving electrical circuits from component to system level
• Devise methods to understand bounds of causes and impacts for business decisions
• Perform & contribute to failure mode & effects analysis, single & multiple fault testing, and consult over Design for Safety efforts
• Communicate issues, root cause & corrective action status, risks, and other data at various levels within the company
• Drive corrective action efforts through schematic/BOM/layout/integration changes and improvement mechanisms
• Contribute to design and system reviews involving hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing
• Develop automated test tools (LabView, Matlab, Python, etc) to improve data and design analysis
