Job Description

The Sr. Optical Network Development Engineer position at AWS involves building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks to support AWS and other business units across global data centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of work experience on thermal design for hardware systems and components
  • 8+ years of experience with thermal simulation and test validation
  • 4+ years of experience developing and automating validation testbeds for thermal validation and characterization
  • 4+ years of data analysis and presenting data-driven deep dives on thermal design
  • 2+ years of experience working on manufacturing processes and qualifications
  • 1+ years of professional development experience with Python or a similar scripting language for automation scripting

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, internal/external customer interactions, and produce appropriate technical documentation
  • Collaborate with vendors/manufacturers to evaluate new hardware and software features on optical modules from a thermal design perspective, and create implementations plans for incorporating them into the network
  • Define and develop thermal and mechanical test plans with vendors/manufacturers to validate the thermal design for optical modules
  • Automate thermal, mechanical, and optical test plans to aid in product development and qualification of optical modules
  • Work with the network operations team to identify operation issues and improve quality and RMA process
